When i have one of those feelings, the feeling that says, "do something" i normally listen, the voice speaking ever so gently and quietly in my ear, telling me that some one some place needs a little bit of a boost. On my way through a toll booth one day I had only 6$ in my pocket, the toll for me was 2$, leaving just 4$ to my name for the rest of my trip, which wasn't long, so I handed the man at the toll booth all 6$ and asked him to pay the next 2 tolls behind me, he asked if i was sure I wanted to do that, of coarse I said, I have been blessed and I want to bless others. Just a simple way of paying it forward i suppose. A few years ago I was at the local post office, I saw a lady with a walker, neck brace, walking alone in the rain, juggling her bag and her mail. I knew I had a large umbrella in the van, and very quickly with out even really thinking grabbed it and went to help her. Never expecting anything to come of my kindness. A few months later, my mom calles me from work, she says that she just met the lady, her name escapes me at this moment, and she had recognised me from a photo my mom had on her desk, she called me her "angel" ever praising my kindness. The next time she went in to my mom's work, she found out that I was pregnant and due any day, she gave my mom a check to go get me something for the baby, her way of repaying my kindness. Even now 3 years later she still remembers me and asks about my family. The past few days I have had the blessing of helping out a family through a tough family loss, My phone normally doesn't ring late at night, but on Sunday night it did, with a frantic mom on the other end asking if there was any way her son could ride the bus home with our son and stay the afternoon, until she got home from the hospital with her mother from visiting her father, whom is unfortunately passing away. After school he came and played the afternoon she returned home for a few hours only to receive a call from the Dr's stating that her father wasn't expected to make it through the night. Again another frantic call from her not knowing what to do with her son for the night, Open door policy around here for sure, even on a school night we had a sleep over guest. He came back this afternoon, and doesn't want to leave, unfortunately he has to go home to the news that he has lost his grandfather.
I have been blessed with a husband that works hard so I can stay at home with our children, my door is always open to the neighborhood children when ever they need a place to stay, or just get away from their own homes. It has been used several times at almost all hours. Today our air conditioner finally took its last breath... I have several window fans and we are maintaining about a 79 degree inside temp. For some this would be a "hell" of sorts, but personally I don't enjoy a 72degree home in the first place, i get way to cold.. Not worried about in the least, at least not right now! When the young mans mother came to pick him up she said they have a small window unit they purchased for a back up a few months ago still sitting in its box, she insists that her husband come over tomorrow and put it in for us. So at least for the next week until we get the big one fixed I will be able to cool the master bedroom off enough to sleep comfortably, although i will have a bed full of children!
Karma, What goes around comes around...
THANK GOD mine has been GOOD.
